Join Reading Liberally Book Club for monthly discussions focused on understanding political and social challenges and developing strategies we can use on personal and local levels to protect Democratic ideals.

  • When: Reading Liberally meets the 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

  • Where: Hempfield recCenter, 1251 Stony Battery Road, Landisville.

All meetings are free, but participants must supply their own copies of selected titles.

  • July 22 – How Books Can Save Democracy by Michael Fischer, a short examination of the importance of reading

  • August 26 – Bad Law: Ten Popular Laws That are Ruining America by Elie Mystal, a thoughtful, sometimes humorous, look at how laws affect us

  • September 23 – Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, a book recently banned from a local school curriculum

  • October 28 – Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, a controversial classic

  • November 18 – On Courage: How to Be a Dissident in an Age of Fear by Julia Angwin and Ami Fields-Meyer, based on interviews with activists around the world
